DevOps - What is DevOps |
Devops= Development + Operations
DevOps is a combination of software development (Dev) and information-technology operations (Ops), It aims to reduce the systems development life cycle and provide continuous delivery with high efficiency and quality.
It automates the process, developers to build code, test an application, and release the products much faster.
Compared to the traditional method, DevOps is used to increase the speed of work and software release.
It aims to shorten the systems development life cycle and provide continuous delivery with high software quality
Waterfall model (or) Traditional method:
1. Developer writing code and pushing to the development environment.
2. Tester testing the code using automation and reporting the issues.
3. The developer fixes the bugs and again pushes them to the development environment.
4. Testing completed. now can see the changes in the development site
5. The Same process will happen in the staging and production environment.
In this process, the time delay and code changes will happen in every environment depending upon their code.
In this process, developers have the Pressure of working on old code, and pending and new code was high because development and deployment time was high.
The time delay of developing the code for three environments as a result product will reach the client or customers late.
History of DevOps:
DevOps was invented in the year of 2009.
"Patrick Debois" from Belgium and "Andrew Clay Shafer" from the US both met, discussed, and invented the DevOps concept.
WHAT IS CICD:
CICD: Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment:
In DevOps, developers will work on the code and Continuously integrate, test, and deploy the code.
Using DevOps no need to write code for development, staging, or the production itself, just write a code once test it, and deploy it that's it.
Key features of DevOps:
- Provides Collaboration
- scalable
- Automation
- Has a holistic approach
- Provides continuous build, test, integration, and deployment.
- Reproducible
DevOps is not a technology, it is a methodology.
The DevOps can use several tools accordingly to their own requirements.
List of Tools Used in the DevOps:
- Jenkins
- Docker
- GitHub
- Docker
- Ansible
- Git
- Bamboo
- Kubernetes
- Puppet
- Nagios
- Prometheus
- grafana
- ArgoCD
- Service Mesh
